Privacy at OKAI Study

Scope and purpose

OKAI Study is a context-aware study companion for the web. Its single purpose is to help users understand and learn from the webpage they choose to analyze through explanations, summaries, questions, quiz assistance, and configured Advisor behavior.

This policy applies to the OKAI Study browser extension and the public website at okaistudy.com.

Information the extension processes

Depending on the page and action you select, OKAI Study may process:

• Website content: page title, URL, headings, relevant readable text, selected text, quiz questions, answer choices, and detectable selected answers.
• Your communications: questions entered in the Advisor and the responses returned by your configured AI provider.
• Provider credentials: the API key you enter for the AI provider or compatible service you choose.
• Extension preferences: saved Advisor profiles, selected provider and model, interface preferences, window position, and optional conversation-history settings.

Because the extension works on pages selected by the user, relevant page context may incidentally contain personal or sensitive information. Avoid analyzing confidential pages unless you are permitted to send that material to your selected AI provider.

How information is used

Information is used only to provide the study-assistance features you request, maintain your configured extension experience, preserve optional page-specific conversation continuity, protect the service, and comply with applicable legal obligations. OKAI Solutions does not use extension data for targeted advertising, creditworthiness, or lending decisions.

Page analysis and excluded fields

Page extraction occurs locally in the browser after you request analysis. The extractor is designed to exclude password inputs, payment fields, hidden values, scripts, styles, and unrelated form data. Screenshot capture and OCR are not part of the current extension.

The extension selects and bounds page context according to the requested action. A page explanation or summary may require broader readable context than a question about one specific section.

AI providers and data sharing

When you request an AI response, the extension sends the necessary prompt, relevant page context, recent conversation context, and selected Advisor instructions directly to the provider you configured. Supported options currently include OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, and user-configured OpenAI-compatible services.

Those providers process information under their own privacy policies, terms, locations, and retention practices. OKAI Solutions does not control those independent services. Review the policy of your selected provider before sending sensitive material.

OKAI Solutions does not sell user data. Information is transferred only as needed to provide user-requested functionality, comply with law, protect rights and security, or complete a business transition subject to appropriate safeguards and notice.

API credentials

Provider API keys are held in extension-controlled browser session storage and used by the extension background service worker to authenticate requests to the provider selected by the user. They are not inserted into the host webpage DOM, included in page-analysis payloads, logged by OKAI Study, or committed with the extension.

Session credentials are cleared when the browser session ends. Users are responsible for protecting, restricting, monitoring, and revoking their provider credentials. Provider usage and charges remain subject to the provider account selected by the user.

Local storage and retention

Advisor profiles, model and provider preferences, chat display settings, and window state can remain in browser extension storage until changed, cleared, or the extension is removed. API credentials are stored only for the browser session.

Optional conversation history is stored locally in the browser to maintain continuity on the same page. Users can disable saved history, select the available retention period, or clear all saved conversations from Chat Settings. Expired conversations are removed according to that preference.

Website data

The public OKAI Study website does not include user accounts or advertising trackers. It uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure anonymous page visits, including visits to the extension download page. This helps OKAI Solutions understand website usage and estimate downloads. The analytics service does not use cookies and does not collect names, email addresses, or extension page content.

Infrastructure providers such as the website host may also process standard request information, including IP address, browser information, requested URL, timestamps, and security logs, under their own policies and legitimate operational requirements.

Security

OKAI Study uses HTTPS for supported provider and website communications and separates extension-controlled credentials from webpage JavaScript. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Users should avoid entering API keys outside the extension settings page and revoke a credential immediately if they believe it has been exposed.

Your choices

• Choose whether to analyze a page or request an AI response.
• Select which AI provider, compatible service, model, and Advisor profile to use.
• Disable optional conversation-history storage.
• Choose an available history-retention period.
• Clear saved conversations and change extension settings.
• Disconnect provider credentials by ending the browser session or using the provider controls.
• Remove locally stored extension data by uninstalling the extension or clearing its storage.

Children

OKAI Study is not directed to children below the minimum age required to independently use online services in their jurisdiction. A parent, guardian, school, or organization is responsible for determining whether the extension and the selected AI provider are appropriate for a learner.

International processing

The AI provider or infrastructure service selected or used may process information in countries outside your own. Their privacy terms describe the applicable locations and transfer mechanisms. Users should select services compatible with their legal and organizational requirements.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the product, providers, legal requirements, or data practices change. The effective date at the top will be revised when a material update is published. Continued use after an update is subject to the revised policy.
